Labour Calls Off Strike


In a live press conference by 1 pm today, leaders of Nigerian Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress announced their decision to call off the nationwide strike and all mass rallies.
Labour called on the strike action on the 9th of January and this resulted in a virtual shutdown of the country, after a number of consultations between labour and the federal government, President Goodluck Jonathan announced the reduction in the pump price of petrol from 141 Naira per litre to 97 Naira per litre.
During Labour’s press conference, they stated categorically that the federal government unilaterally made the decision to revert the price of fuel to 97 Naira.
