Miss China Yu Wenxia has won the Miss World 2012.
Yu Wenxia, a 23-year-old music student, became the second woman from China, to win the crown, after Zhang Zilin took it in 2007. Yu Wenxia, who says she hopes to become a music teacher, won the title in her homeland, as the pageant was staged in the Inner Mongolian city of ordos.
Sophie Elizabeth Moulds from Wales, emerged as the first runner-up, while jessica Michelle Kahawaty of Australia, was the second runner-up.
The 23-year-old Yu Wenxia is a music student who says she wants to become a music teacher.
This is the first time for the Inner Mongolian city of Ordos to host the international beauty pageant.
The city is one of the richest regions in China thanks to its abundant natural resources. It hopes the world event will raise its profile for economic development and tourism.
Sanya, another Chinese city, has hosted the contest several times.
